Arthur Elroy Sherman, 

A retired City of Lockport Fireman, Arthur Elroy Sherman passed away March 10, 2016 in Bradenton, Fl., after a long illness. Born in Maskell, Nebraska on April, 27, 1934, to Wayne and Edna Sherman, he moved to the Lockport Area in 1941. He joined the US Navy in 1952, serving on the Aircraft Carriers, including the USS Antietam during the Korean War. He returned home where he married Patricia (Fiegl) Sherman. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2015.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children William (Robin) Sherman of Sun City Center, FL., Angela Tomczak, Debra (Rick) Ellis, Kevin (Renee Cavagnaro) Sherman and Angela (Dominick) Farina, all of Lockport, and Alycia Sherman of Bradenton, FL.; he is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arthur was the brother of Adrian (Judy) Sherman of Lockport, Grace (AJ) McGraw of Newfane and Darlene Vautrin of Clayton, NY. He is predeceased by his brother, Gerald (Margaret) Sherman.

Arthur was a member of the Knights of Columbus #319 and the 4th Degree Assembly #754, serving with the Color Corp. He also enjoyed reunions with his fellow shipmates on the USS Antietam.

Friends may call on Tuesday March 15th 4-8 PM, in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 16th at 10 AM at All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family. Online Condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
