HARTLAND -- A 31-year-old Newfane woman was charged Monday with violating Leandra's Law, accused of driving intoxicated with a child in the car.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent to Ridge Road around 6:16 p.m. after dispatch received report of a possible intoxicated driver eastbound on Ridge Road. There, they located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Katie M. Shaw.
Patrol concluded that Shaw impaired by drugs and charged her with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra's Law violation), for having a child under the age of 16 in her vehicle at the time of her impairment. She was also charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.
Shaw was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $750 bail and was to return to Town of Hartland Court on Tuesday.
