NIAGARA FALLS -- A Lockport man was one of two charged with drug possession following a Thursday traffic stop in Niagara Falls.
According to New York State Police, Troopers stopped Peter G. Healing, 31, of North Tonawanda for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed that both he and his passenger, 22-year-old Zechariah M. Vandewart, were in possession of heroin.
The arrest report states that Healing was in possession of five wax bags containing powder heroin and having an outstanding warrant out of the City of North Tonawanda PD. Vandewart was found to be in possession of a Suboxone envelope containing a partial sublingual strip and wax bag containing "one dosage unit of powder heroin."
Healing was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a seatbelt violation, and moving from the lane unsafely, as well as operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Vandewart was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Vandewart was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Niagara Falls Court on Feb. 26. Healing was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets returnable to the City of Niagara Falls Court on March 3.
