WOLCOTTSVILLE -- The action of an alert neighbor saved all but one chicken from a fire in a chicken coop on Dewhirst Road Saturday afternoon.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the neighbor called 911 after noticing the homeowner's chicken coop had started on fire and spread to the attached barn. The neighbor alerted the homeowner, whom was able to save all but one chicken from the fire.
Wolcottsville and Rapids Fire Companies responded and extinguished the fire. A damage estimate was not immediately available and the cause of the fire is under investigation by Niagara County Origin and Cause.
