Lockport police had Washburn Street closed down late this morning and this
afternoon while it investigated an incident which resulted in a Washburn
Street home being shot. (SCOTT LEFFLER / ENP STAFF)
Lockport police are turning to the public for help in apprehending a person responsible for putting a bullet into a Washburn Street home this morning.

According to LPD Det. Lt. Brian Wentland, police believe that "it wasn't a random shooting. There was a specific person that was targeted in it."

No one was hurt when gunshots rang out at 11:09 a.m. when the shooter fired from the intersection of Washburn Street and Ashley Place into the home on the east side of Washburn Street.

Wentland said police have gotten "minimal cooperation" from the public but hopes that will change. "We're looking for people to come forward."

He suggested that people could anonymously call the LPD tip line at 439-6707 if they have details on the shooter.
