An international hockey tournament will once again use Lockport's Cornerstone CFCU Arena for several of its games.
"The Cup" North American Championship is an international tournament to be played between 59 AAA hockey teams from Jan. 15-17. Teams must finish ranked in the top 20 final myhockeyrankings.com from the US or Canada from the previous years final results to be considered unless otherwise deemed worthy by the tournament selection committee.
There will be teams from all over the United States and Canada playing at Cornerstone. Games will begin at 7:45 a.m. each morning of the tournament and will run until 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, 9 p.m. Jan. 16, and 5 p.m. Jan 17.
Cornerstone Arena is one of seven Western New York arenas being used for the tournament this year. Others include Hockey Outlet in Wheatfield, Dann Memorial Rink in Buffalo, Northtown Center in Williamsville, Holiday Twin Rinks in Buffalo, Leisure Rinks in West Seneca, and -- added this year -- Riverworks Ice Complex in Buffalo.
