ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
OTTAWA -- Sabres rookie Jack Eichel scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 3-2 Sabres victory tonight over the Ottawa Senators.
Evander Kane also tallied a goal for the Blue & Gold and Sabres netminder Robin Lehner got the only assist of the night for Buffalo -- on Eichel's first goal.
Erik Karlsson started the scoring for the Senators, getting a wrist shot past Lehner at 6:42 of the first period. Mika Zibanejad and Chris Neil assisted. Kane's goal came at 11:12, unassisted.
In the second period, Bobby Ryan put Ottawa back in the lead 2-1, assisted by Cody Ceci and Shane Prince at 10:03. Eichel's first came on a wrap around at 13;48, assisted by Lehner on the power play, thanks -- in part -- to a poor line change by the Senators.
Eichel scored the games fifth (and final) goal at 1:08 of the third period, an unassisted tip in.
The Sabres are now 20-26-4 and are off until after the All-Star break this coming weekend.
