BUFFALO -- Three third-period Boston Bruins goals spelled defeat for the Buffalo Sabres Friday night, as Boston bested Buffalo, 4-1.

David Legwand scored the Sabres first -- and only -- goal at 14:37 of the first period, unassisted.

Boston's Matt Beleskey tied the game at 1:01 of the second period, assisted by Ryan Spooner and Loui Eriksson.

Zdeno Chara made it 2-1 in Boston's favor just 29 seconds into the third period, assisted by Ryan Spooner and Beleskey. Spooner made it 3-1 Boston 10:53 into the third period, assisted by Eriksson and Kevan Miller. Brett Connolly finished up the scored with an empty net goal at 18:51, unassisted.

The Sabres,now 17-23,4 next play the Washington Capitals tonight at First Niagara Center.
