Beginning tonight, Lockport’s Historic Palace Theater will host a production of “Blithe Spirit.” Noel Coward’s comedy first graced the stage in the West End of London in 1941. It later became a film (1945) starring Rex Harrison.
Charles Condomine is an author who decides to learn the dark arts of the occult as part of the research for a book he plans on writing. After having a seance at the house, the medium, Madame Arcati, unwittingly summons Condomine’s first wife, Elvira. As only Charles can see her, others think he is going mad. Elvira does everything in her ghostly power to sabotage her husband’s second marriage.
Directed by Peg Merrill, the “Blithe Spirit” cast includes Jon May as Charles, Mary Bellanti as Ruth, Katie Merrill as Elvira, Kathleen Rooney as Madame Arcati, Joel Hurlbert as Dr. Bradman, Betsy Ross as Mrs. Bradman, and Danielle Glynn as Edith.
The show deputs at 7:30 p.m, with follow-ups at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The show will close with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
Take a chance on this electrifying performance on our local stage. You can get your tickets at the Palace Box Office.
