Eight Lockport Express players had points -- with Frank Vecchio Jr. netting a hat trick -- en route to defeating the East Coast Minutemen 6-1 Saturday night.
The win, Lockport's first in the NA3EHL Showcase this weekend, gives Lockport a 14-16-4 record for 32 points, putting Lockport in fourth place in the Western Conference -- one better than the Syracuse Stampede.
After a scoreless first period Christopher Gasiewicz got things rolling at 8:37, assisted by Ryan Logar and Peter Guido. Justin Andriaccio made it 2-0 at 17:57. Tristan Archambault scored East Coast's only goal at 18:36, assisted by Matt Moreschi and Cole Norsetter.
In the third period, Vecchio got the natural hat trick beginning with a power play goal at 3:51, assisted by Ryan Logar and Jordan Pocobello. Vecchio's second goal -- also on the power play -- was at 7:51, assisted by Dylan Jenkins. Then at 10:31, Ryan Logar assisted on Vecchio's third consecutive goal. Jenkins wrapped up the scoring at 11:43, assisted by Pocobello and Kurt Villani.
Express netminder Sal Stalteri stopped 26 of 27 shots for the win.
The Express wrap up the showcase this afternoon against the New York Aviators. The game starts at 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on East Niagara Radio.
