Local law enforcement charged seven people with driving while intoxicated over a designated crackdown period held during Thanksgiving weekend.
The crackdown, held by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Lockport Police Department, Middleport Police Department, Somerset Police Department, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Park Police, Town of Niagara Police Department, and Youngstown Police Department also saw nine additional arrests on other charges and approximately 312 traffic tickets.
Future "crackdown" periods are scheduled before the end of the year with all agencies being involved.
