Newfane's Jim Schuler and Lockport's Abbey Lang offered the best times at Saturday's Tacky Sweater Run, part of the all-day Light Up Lockport festivities.
Schuler's time of 16:55 was 2:50 better than that of the second-place male, Michael Schmidt of Sanborn. Braden Scales of Lockport finished third in the men's division with a time of 20:26. Lang's time of 19:23 was 1:10 better than that of the second-place female, Hannah Kurbs of Lockport. Sarah Kurbs finished third for the women at 21:44.
In all, 162 people crossed the finish like in the charity 5K, one from as far away as Redono Beach, Calif., according to Score-This.com. Billed as "the ugliest run of your life," the event had an attractive cause; proceeds benefit the Historic Palace Theatre.
