Patrick G. Hannigan passed away in Lockport November 30, 2015 at the age of 75.

Born in Lockport on May 20, 1940 he was the son of the late James J. and Frances (Tracey) Hannigan.  Patrick served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He was a graduate of DeSales Catholic High School where he played both football and basketball. He earned his BSFS from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and completed graduate courses at many schools. He worked as a manager at The Fieldstone Restaurant. He worked in purchasing rolls for Harrison Radiator and for General Motors World Sourcing, retiring in 1992. He worked as a substitute teacher from 1963 to 2013.

Patrick was very active in the Lockport Community. He was involved with the Niagara County Historical Society where he served on the board and was a Step Back In Time Player, served on the board of the Lockport YMCA and was involved with the Erie Canal Task Force Committee. He also was a patron of the arts as a supporter of the Buffalo Philharmonic, as well as six local theaters and four museums. Patrick was a member of All Saints Parish Lockport, serving on the parish council, was a part the Catholic Charities Committee. He also served as a lector at St. Mary’s in Swormville.  He was also a member of the AOH, Elks, Moose and Lions Clubs and was a current member of the American Legion, Marine Bulldog, VFW, Clinton Club, Georgetown Club of WNY, and Delta Phi Epsilon – Foreign Service Fraternity. Patrick played sports in college and even played for the Lockport Essos, was a certified official for five different sports, enjoyed golfing – LTCC, BDGA, and NYSGA, and was also a season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

Besides his parents Patrick is also predeceased by his wives Kathleen (Tracy) Hannigan and Diane (Holls) Hannigan, siblings James J. Hannigan, Jr. and Sgt. Timothy C. Hannigan.

Patrick is survived by his son Jeffrey (Debby) Hannigan and his daughter Tricia (Duffy White) Hannigan; stepfather of Susan Anderson-Collins; brother of Thomas F. Hannigan, Mary Kenney, Joseph F. (Mary Anne) Hannigan, Ann (Carl) Brittain, and Terence (Cheryl) Hannigan; grandfather of Megan, Caitlin, Erin Hannigan, Kathleen and Rory White, Will Collins, Jr. and Liz Collins; also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and friend Melissa Dunlap.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, Dec. 4th from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 5th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport.  In lieu of flowers donations to DeSales Catholic School or to the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales or to the Sisters of St. Mary Namur would be appreciated.
