NEWFANE -- A male motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of a crash on Transit Road this morning.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash around 10:32 a.m., finding an unconscious male in the ditch on the west side of the 2400 block of Transit Road. Preliminary investigation reveals that the motorcycle was southbound on Transit Road when the operator left the roadway, striking a telephone pole on the west side of the road. The sole occupant of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Identification were called to the scene. Coroner Ross also responded to the scene and transported the victim to ECMC. The name of the operator is not being released at this time pending notification being made to his family.
The investigation is continuing by the Accident Investigation Unit.
