SYRACUSE - The Syracuse Stampede shut out the Lockport Express, 4-0, during the teams' third game of the weekend Sunday.
The loss wasn't for a lack of trying on the part of the Express, though, as Stampede goaltender Timothy Evans put aside 42 of 42 shots by Lockport.
Christian Paradiso scored what was technically the game-winning goal 7:32 into the first period, assisted by Nate Walker. Hunter Soden followed it up at 9:54, assisted by Kelsey Head and Tucker Bartenslager. Nicholas Sanborn made it 3-0 on the power play, assisted by Raymond Falso and Raymond Rowe at 16:43.
After a scoreless second, Falso got the final goal of the game at 9:41 of the third period, assisted by Walker and Sanborn.
Lockport goaltender Sal Stalteri stopped 31 of 35 shots in the losing effort.
The Express, now 9-6-4 next plays a three-game series against the league-leading Jersey Shore Wildcats in New Jersey. The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season on Friday at the hands of the New York Aviators. The only team to beat Jersey Shore in the 2014-2015 season was the Express.
