For the second time in as many nights the Lockport Express and Roc City Royals needed more than 60 minutes of hockey to determine the better team. For the second time in as many nights, Roc City was the better team, beating Lockport in a shootout.
Lockport goaltender Tim Schiess gave up only two regulation goals. |
In the third period, Sam Rydzewski tied it again for the Express, assisted by Jordan Pocobello and Fankie Bodami at 9:28. It remained tied through the end of regulation.
Despite Lockport having a man advantage for the majority of the overtime period, the five-minute session came and went without an Express goal.
Roc City shot first in the shootout and scored on all three shots. Their first two goals came from Clark and Cammilleri. Lockport's first shooter -- Kurt Villani -- also scored, however Frank Vecchio Jr. missed his shot, making a third Express shooter a moot point after DePetres scored Rochester's third goal.
Former Lockport netminder Ian Stahl was the winning goaltender, stopping 43 shots in 65 minutes. Lockport's Tim Schiess made 37 saves in 65 minutes.
With the loss, Lockport's record is now 7-4-3, good for 17 points and third place in the NA3EHL West. Lockport plays again Saturday against the Syracuse Stampede at Cornerstone Arena.
