TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- An 87-year-old Lockport man succumbed to injuries received in a two-car crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Rapids and Crosby roads.

According to New York State Police, Peter Calamel, while driving a 2001 Mini Cooper, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling southwest on Crosby Road, driving into the intersection at Rapids Road, where he was struck on the driver's-side door by a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse being driven by a 58-year-old Lockport woman who was northbound on Rapids Road. The crash occurred at 2:44 p.m.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Calamel was Mercy Flighted to Erie County Medical Center with possible head trauma where he later died.

The female driver, who had no stop sign, according to NYSP, was not charged in the accident.
