ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Lockport kids get Halloween two weeks in a row as the annual Lockport Main Street, Inc. downtown trick-or-treating will take place from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 23 — a week before Halloween.
Participating area businesses will have signs on their doors noting they're taking part in the store-to-store event. A map will also be made available and distributed through the Lockport schools.
Simultaneously, the business organization is kicking off a pumpkin decorating contest, to take place from Oct. 23 - 31.
Third-grade students from Lockport City School District, Newfane School District and DeSales Catholic School will be decorating about 420 small pumpkins, donated by Niagara Produce of Lockport. The pumpkins will be placed at area businesses, where the public will then be invited to vote for their favorite through Oct. 30.
The “winning” pumpkin from each location will be put on display at a central location, where two overall grand prize winners will be selected.
