The DeSales Knights varsity baseball team advanced to the WNY Catholic School Championship with a thrilling 4-3 win over St. Mark's on Wednesday afternoon at Delaware Park.
Sam Murphy scored the winning run when Colin Fragale laid down a perfect bunt in the bottom of the 7th. Jason Buzak, Chris Goyette and Mark Crocker scored the other runs. Murphy pitched five strong innings and added a pair of RBIs while Jared Pellicano chipped in with a huge RBI in the third inning. Karl Darling was dominant from the mound in the two final innings and went 3-for-3 from the plate.
The team is now 11-0 for the season. The championship game will be played against Notre Dame at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on the turf at St. Joe's Collegiate Institute.
