Bob Confer
ENP Columnist Bob Confer will be the guest of honor Oct. 22 at the annual dinner for the Niagara County Farm Bureau at Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards.

The evening will begin at 5:30 with a social hour including wines provided by members of the Niagara Wine Trail who are also members of Farm Bureau.

Social hour will be followed by the annual meeting where Farm Bureau members will discuss and vote the political issues they wish to make part of the organization’s political platform -- beginning with county-wide issues, and continuing with the state and national concerns,

“Our annual meeting is grassroots political action at its best,” said Niagara County Farm Bureau
President Jim Bittner. “We ask members for their concerns and have a committee formulate them into resolutions. At our annual meeting, we vote on the resolutions sometimes revising them to make them clearer. The State and Federal resolutions are passed on to New York Farm Bureau to be voted on at
their annual meeting in December. Likewise, the resolutions passed at the State level are passed on to American Farm Bureau.”

Becker Farms will provide one of their local dinners, supporting local farmers.

"We are excited to have this dinner," said farm owner Oscar Vizcarra. "The Farm Bureau has supported many of our efforts that benefited our farm and winery. It is an important organization to belong to."

Confer's speech will follow dinner. An avid agricultural supporter and vice president of Confer Plastics, he is proud to be involved as third-generation member of his family-owned and operated manufacturing plant. A 1993 graduate of Royalton-Hartland Schools, Bob has maintained his
roots in the area living on the family farm in Gasport.

Dinner tickets are $25 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 735-7791 or emailing NiagCoFB@yahoo.com.
