The 8U Clarence Stallions Mite Major kicked off its season Saturday at Cornerstone Arena in Lockport, dropping a 4-0 decision to the Depew Saints. A close, back and forth game was decided by two quick Depew goals in the second period.
Clarence received strong goaltending from Matteo Mancini and penalty killing from defense pair Josh McLellan and Jackson DeBottis. Forwards Austin Unocic and Jake Economou provided some much needed spark, however, despite several close scoring chances, the Stallions were unable to beat Depew’s solid goaltending.
Coach Mike Finnegan and the team will next travel to Port Huron, Michigan to play in the Glacier Pointe Halloween Classic Tournament.
