NEWFANE — A Lockport-Olcott Road service station was burglarized late last week. The criminal damaged several areas of the station and stole a safe, but got little cash out of the endeavor.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, someone broke into Pippard Automotive Service, 3832 Lockport-Olcott Road between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7:40 a.m. Friday.

The burglar had attempted to pry the cash register door open, but no cash was missing. However $250 was taken from another location in the service station. A metal safe was also taken, but it contained only books of expired New York State Safety Inspection Certificates from 2007, according to the report.

Patrol noted surveillance cameras on the Hi-Tech Auto Wash located directly to the south of Pippard Automotive Service. The store owner said he would review the recorded video and would notify NCSO if anything was discovered during the time the garage was entered.
