Ronnie Chandler
NIAGARA FALLS — A Lockport man and woman were arrested on weapons charges after being stopped on Caravelle Drive for having inadequate headlights and no side view mirror.

According to New York State Police, when they pulled 25-year-old Stephany Chandler over, they also found her to be driving without a license. Her passenger, 29-year-old Ronnie H. Chandler had a non-driver ID on him, so police had to have the car towed.

During the inventory of the vehicle an unregistered 9mm handgun was located, police say. Ronnie Chandler is a convicted felon and has an order of protection prohibiting him to possess a firearm.

As a result, additional charges were levied, including third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal contempt, and criminal possession of a firearm.

Both were remanded the City of Niagara Falls holding for arraignment.

    Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree

    Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree is a C violent felony offense. For a person with no criminal history, the mandatory minimum is 3 1/2 years state prison and the maximum is 15 years state prison.

    Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree

    Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree is a D violent felony offense. For a person with no criminal history, the mandatory minimum is 2 years and the maximum is 7 years.
