The runaway snake that caused a commotion at the Redmen Club Wednesday night has been claimed by its owner.
Fred Kick, owner of Pets Plus on West Avenue said the snake's owner picked up the snake from the pet store, where Kick had been holding it after police asked for his help Wednesday night.
Police had been called to the Redmen Club around 8:40 p.m. after the bartender and patrons found the six-foot long snake coiled up under a machine near an exterior door. Police, in turn, called Kick who held it in hopes of finding the owner.
Kick said he's familiar with the owner who has had the New Jersey Pine snake for years and has frequented Pets Plus for mice to feed the snake.
