Robert J. Roth, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport on October 26, 1925, Robert was the son of Edward and Susan Roth.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Robert served on board The Wasatch, the flagship of the Seventh Fleet in the South Pacific. Robert earned the American Theater medal, Victory medal, Asiatic Pacific medal, five stars, and the Philippine Liberation ribbon for his service to his country.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes included woodworking, working around his yard, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching Notre Dame Football and taking care of his beloved cat Rocket.
Robert is predeceased by his wife Therese. He is also predeceased by his older sister Elizabeth, older brothers Howard and Charles and son James. He is survived by his son Robert (Nancy Jo) of Lockport as well as grandchildren Megan Roth, Melissa (Tyler) Ray, and Jessica (Ian) Duthie, great grandchildren Peyton, Tanner and Luke and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 19th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY.
