TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A New York State Police Trooper was injured on Aug. 28 while responding to a complaint on Robinson Road.
According to NYSP, Troopers from the Lockport barracks responded to assist the Niagara County Sheriff's Office on the call, which involved 26-year-old Ruben A. Ruiz, who was spotted by patrol fleeing the scene on foot.
Ruiz was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit but he then broke free of the arresting Trooper, causing injury to the Trooper's wrist. Ruiz was then taken into custody by NCSO.
Thursday, Ruiz was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, as a result of the Trooper's injury. He was arraigned in Town of Lockport Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail on $25,000 bail.
