Refugio L. “Cookie” Gonzalez, Sr passed away suddenly July 4, 2015.
Born in Detroit, MI on March 3, 1960 he was the son of Thomas and Olivia (Vasquez) Gonzalez. He worked as a welder for Akron Whiting Pull Up Doors in Akron, NY. Cookie was an avid fisherman with his son, loved to sing, was an animal lover, had a great sense of humor and welcomed everyone with open arms. He will be remembered as a loving, husband, father, and brother.
Cookie is survived by his wife of 38 years Marlene (Lugo) Gonzalez; father of Refugio L. Gonzalez, Jr.; grandfather of Caden and Arabella Gonzalez; brother of Tommy (Jamie) Gonzalez, Jesse (Joann) Gonzalez, Mary “Margie” (Eladio) Hernandez, SanJuana “Saqui” (Sammy) Hinojosa, Olivia “Ole” (Terry) Menchaca, and late Johnny Gonzalez; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 8th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 9th at 9:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
