State Sen. Rob Ortt is calling on the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority to reinstate route 55L from Lockport to Niagara Falls, as well as Route 57 from North Tonawanda to Niagara Falls.
Ortt will hold a press conference with other elected officials at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Ave., to question the transit authority's decision to cut the routes. Joining Ortt will be Lockport Mayor Anne McCaffrey, North Tonawanda Mayor Art Pappas, Assemblywoman Jane Corwin, WNY Independent Living Inc. Director of Advocacy Todd Vaarwerk, Aspire of WNY President Tom Sy, and riders of the displaced routes.
"The push falls in line with the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) this Sunday," according to a press release from the senator's office.
