Angelo DiMillo, 88, died peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2015 with his wife and five children by his side.
Born on November 21, 1926 in Roccomorice, Italy, Angelo was the second of four children born to Agostino and Palma DiMillo. Angelo immigrated to America in 1947 and proudly made Lockport, New York his home for the past 67 years. In October 1953, Angelo met his “sweet pie,” Maria Molinaro in Miss Murphy’s night school class (where Maria went to learn English and Angelo went to meet pretty girls learning English!) They married six months later, on April 24, 1954 at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Lockport. Mary and Angelo had five children together: Rosanna, Angelo, Rita, Dan, and Tom. Angelo’s wife, five children, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were the light of his life and not a day went by that he did let them know this.
Angelo lived a full, productive and blessed life. He worked at Harrison Radiator for over thirty years, his last position as a tool and die maker. Angelo enjoyed playing bocce, making wine and was a member of the St Anthony’s parish council for many years. He will be remembered for a “forte e gentile” spirit, his great sense of humor, his optimism and focused determination to make the most of the life God gave him. His legacy as a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, brother –in-law, grand-father, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle and friend lives on in those he loved.
Angelo is survived by his five children: Rosanna (Ed) Sandell, Angelo (Susan), Rita (Mike) Dembrow Dan (Kathy) DiMillo, and Tom (Michelle) DiMillo; 15 grandchildren. Ryan (Taralyn), Mary Lauren, Angela, Maria (Mark) Napoleone, Elizabeth, Paul, Angelo, Carmella, Alyssa, Danielle, Roserita, Danny, Maritina, Tommy and Adrianna and his two great-grandchildren, Angelo and Luca.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 8th from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday, July 9th from 1 – 3 PM and 6-9 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 10th at 10 AM at All Saints Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Lockport, NY 14094-1231.
