ENP STAFF REPORTS

The City of Lockport’s Nelson C. Goehle Marina at Widewaters is open for business — with marina attendants on duty from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The City originally did not budget to operate the marina this summer and was exploring having an outside agency provide the service, however, the Lockport Common Council amended the 2015 City Budget to open the marina with the belief that the service will be revenue-neutral.
It is expected that revenue from the leasing of boat slips and gasoline and ice sales will cover the costs of the attendants. The City’s marina slip rates were one-third those charged by neighboring marinas on the Erie Canal. In addition, the City had only been charging for seasonal leasing of slips; providing overnight or transient dockage free of charge. As such, the Common Council has increased rates to bring them more in line with its neighbors and will begin charging overnight dockage and boat launching.
Marina slip rental rates for this summer are:
In addition to docking and a launching site, the full service marina also offers restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, gasoline and ice. The marina accepts, cash, checks and credit cards.
More information and seasonal slip permit applications can be found on the City of Lockport website at www.lockportny.gov.
