A 28-year-old Middleport man was charged this morning with a daytime burglary that took place May 4 on Elmwood Avenue.
According to LPD, Kenneth Edmister, 8949 Pearson Road, was charged with second-degree burglary after confessing to the incident on May 27. Police and detectives had responded to the Elmwood Avenue address around noon to investigate a burglary in progress after the homeowners returned home to find Edmister in their residence.
Edmister fled on foot prior to patrol arriving and a manhunt was put in place, but Edmister escaped the LPD dragnet.
Edmister was then arrested by Middleport Police on May 27 for a burglary there. When LPD was called to interview him as a potential suspect in the Elmwood Avenue burglary, he confessed, according to LPD records.
He was arraigned in City Court this morning.
