The Boys U15 Lockport Lightning Premier Soccer team won the 2015 New York West State Cup Final Four Championships last weekend.

The competition involves 185,000 players with over 10,000 teams at the beginning of the yearlong season and ends with just 48 teams competing for a national bracket spot.

In Friday’s matchup, the Lockport team defeated Buffalo Empire 2-0 and on Saturday, they shut out Waza Soccer Academy 5-0. A tie against Syracuse Development Academy was enough for them to earn the title of State Champions.

Coached by Scott Moreland, Brad May and Ian Martin, the team will now compete in the US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championship held in Barboursville, W.Va. on June 25.  Winners of the Region 1 Championship move on to the National Championships in in Tulsa, Okla.

This team is the first team in Lockport Soccer Club history to compete at this level.
