The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Western New York including southern Niagara County.
The warning is set to run until 4:15 p.m. while a line of severe thunderstorms capable of produce quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60-mph sweeps through the area.
These storms were located along a line extending from six miles southwest of Niagara Falls to 13 miles northwest of Angola on the Lake. They are currently moving east at about 45 mph.
Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain. The weather service advises to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business.
"Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the road," the service notes.
