ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
With just under two weeks to go before the 2015 Taste of Lockport, 22 food vendors have signed on for the 15th annual event, to be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 5.
This year's Taste will line Main Street starting at North Transit Street and going east — a change made from previous years to accommodate what's expected to be a record crowd. The event has also been extended from a six-hour affair to eight hours, to allow hungry patrons extra time to get a taste of everything.
Ida Fritz Park, where the event has been for the past several years, will still be used as a kids' zone and entertainment area. The event will have two stages this year with music from The Frame, Carrie G, and Blood Money on the main stage in front of City Hall; and Dark Road, Hot Country Line Dancers, Drew Azzinaro & Andy Geier, and The Buffalo Dolls at the gazebo at Ida Fritz.
The main stage will also be the headquarters for a Guinness World Record attempt at 4:11 p.m. when more than 6,690 people are expected to sing "Low Bridge," also known as "The Erie Canal Song" over the radio, earning Lockport its very own world record in the "most people singing on a live radio broadcast" category.
Vendors expected for the 2015 Taste of Lockport include:
Proceeds raised by the Taste of Lockport help fund Lockport Business Association's projects such as college grants to senior high school students, grants for regional leadership development programs, community enhancements grants, and projects that promote local businesses, attract further business development, and market the community as a tourist destination.
