ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The Guinness World Record attempt during the 2015 Taste of Lockport will be broadcast live by 92.9 Jack FM, according to Taste of Lockport organizer, Jenny Marketing Group.
The attempt for the most people singing live on a radio broadcast will have attendees singing the song “Low Bridge” at 4:11 PM on July 5 on Main St. The current record stands at 6,689 singers.
The attempt at a record for Guinness World Records was added to the Lockport Business Association's 15th Annual Taste of Lockport when its usual date in August was changed to July 5th. The Taste will be the culminating event to the city’s Sesquicentennial Celebration Lockport 150 beginning on June 27th.
This year's Taste will include Main Street as well as Ida Fritz Park in order to allow for more restaurants and additions of the Kid Zone, culinary demonstrations and entertainment on two stages.
The celebratory theme for the 15th Annual Taste of Lockport has created interest from nearby restaurants and food trucks. Jennifer Serrano, the Taste of Lockport’s Event Director, said she didn’t expect the amount of outside interest, but was given permission to include the neighbors of Lockport in the festivities. Applications are now being accepted from restaurants, wineries and farms from surrounding communities and Erie County. Applications for vendor participants and contributors will be accepted until June. By mid-June a full list of participants for the final Sesquicentennial celebration will be announced.
Leading up to the July 5th date, the Taste of Lockport will be featured on their television media partner, WBBZ-TV your Hometown MeTV Station, Channel 5 on Verizon Fios, Time Warner and Dish and on DirecTV along with promotion on their radio media partner Jack FM at 92.9 WBUF(FM).
