George J. Meier, Sr. passed away May 11, 2015 in Clare Bridge of Niagara in Wheatfield.

Born in Port Clinton, OH on August 24, 1920 he was the son of George and Susan (Kerns) Meier. George served in the Army Air Force from 1941 to 1944 during WW II and worked for NY Telephone in Lockport where he was a switchman. He served as a Niagara County Legislator for 18 years and was also a Lockport Town Councilman. George enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.  He was predeceased by his wife Violet (Swanson) Meier.

George is survived by his three sons George (Laurie) Meier, Jr., Stacey (Sandi) Meier, and Dennis Meier; grandfather of Marshall, Taylor, Megan, Haley and Nathan Meier; brother of the late Virginia Reagan and Dorothy Helick.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.  Interment was in Cold Springs Cemetery.
