Gary Edward Girard of Barker, NY entered into rest Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Son of Edward and Jane Higgs Girard of Barker, NY, He was born September 29, 1957 in Medina, NY. Gary worked for Opportunities Unlimited for 36 years. He has lived in Barker, NY all his life and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish (St. Patrick’s) in Barker, NY. He also was a member of the Challenger Baseball League and Boy Scout Troop #11 in Medina where he went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Gary also enjoyed bowling, dancing, country music, wrestling, an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan and was a swimmer in the Special Olympics.

Brother of Diane (Mark) Olmsted of Barker, NY and Dale Girard of Fort Mill, SC. Uncle of Jeffrey, Shawn, Katie, Brandon, Taylor and Lauren. Dear friend of Mike Gancasz and Daryl St. Onge.  Also survived by several cousins.

Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 2670 Main St. NEWFANE, NY Monday April 6, 2015 from 2-6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated TUESDAY at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish (St. Patrick’s) 1726 Quaker Road Barker, NY 14012. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery. Memorials to Opportunities Unlimited 107 Heath St. Lockport, NY 14094 or Barker Fire Company 1660 Quaker Road Barker, NY 14012 would be appreciated by the family.
