A vigil was held to honor Forsyth's arrival. |
Forsyth's body was accompanied to Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home on Genesee Street by a motorcade of police cars from the Ocala Police Department, where it was met around 1:15 a.m. by officers from the Lockport Police Department, Niagara County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police.
Once Forsyth arrived a Prudden and Kandt, a small vigil was held by the officers and family members on hand.
Forsyth's funeral will be held at Prudden and Kandt from 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday. He will be laid to rest at Hartland Central Cemetery in Gasport following a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist RC Church on Chestnut Street.
More than 200 people attended a vigil Saturday in Ocala, Fla., where Forsyth had worked for the past three years on the Ocala Police Department, according to Ocala.com.
Forsyth died after being tragically shot during firearms training at the Lowell Correctional Institution. A bullet went into Forsyth's chest after another officer's gun accidentally discharged, ricocheting off a bench and into his chest from the side, where his bulletproof vest offered no protection.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
