Niagara County police agencies wrote approximately 350 tickets and made 73 arrests between March 13 and March 18 during the "Saint Patrick's Day DWI Crackdown Enforcement, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday.
Participating agencies included the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Park Police, Lockport Police Department, Middleport Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Town of Niagara Police Department and Somerset Police Department.
All agencies involved utilized increased patrol units that were specifically designated for DWI enforcement. Fifteen people across Niagara County were arrested during this time frame for Driving While Intoxicated, while 58 others were arrested on other charges.
Future "crackdown" periods are already scheduled in 2015 with all agencies being involved.
