The Shamus Restaurant will host the 11th annual "History Center Night" from 4-8 p.m. March 25 to benefit the Niagara History Center.

For this fundraiser, dinner guests are welcome to order their selections from the menu as usual. The Shamus will then provide a generous donation from the evening’s proceeds to the History Center.

Niagara History Center Executive Director Melissa Dunlap said “We appreciative the Shamus’ continuing support of our educational programs through the annual History Center Night. The Shamus offers a perfect evening of great food in a beautiful setting.”

The Shamus, 98 West Ave., is celebrating some history of its own. This year marks the 25th anniversary for the restaurant under the ownership of Anne Murphy-Beaulieu and Robert Beaulieu. The 150-year-old building was originally converted from a house to a restaurant in 1973 before the Beaulieus took over in 1990. Former owner James Murphy, who established the original Lockport restaurant at another site in the 1950s, called it “Shamus,” the Gaelic version of his own first name.

Guests are asked to phone in their reservations for the “History Center Night” directly to the Shamus Restaurant at 433-9809.
