TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 28-year-old Sanborn man — found in a snowbank following a Friday accident on Fernwood Drive — was charged with DWI, drugged driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and other motor vehicle violations.
According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to a two-car property damage hit-and-run accident and found that a 34-year-old Lockport woman was westbound on Fernwood Drive when a black pickup drove up behind her and attempted to pass her on the driver’s side. The pickup struck her vehicle causing damage to her rear driver side quarter panel.
Troopers later located the operator identified as John N. Franjoine in a snow bank. He was arrested and transported to SP Lockport for further evaluation. Standardized field sobriety test's were administered, which he failed. A drug recognition expert evaluation proved positive, according to police.
Franjoine was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating motor vehicle impaired by drugs, failure to keep right, leaving the scene property damage accident and uninspected motor vehicle. He was processed and issued tickets returnable to the Town of Lockport Court on March 10.
