BUFFALO — Former Sabre Steve Bernier scored a pair against his old team — enough to secure the victory for the New Jersey Devils over the Blue & Gold.

Bernier's goals both came in the second period, first at 9:08 then at 13:53. Scott Gomez and Adam Henrique assisted on both goals.

In the third period, Jordin Tootoo scored at 8:14, giving the Devils a 3-0 lead before Matt Moulson put the Sabres on the board at 11:41 with a power play goal assisted by Tyler Ennis and Brian Gionta, giving the game its 3-1 final.

NOTES:

  • With his assist tonight, Tyler Ennis has five points (3+2) in his last five games against the Devils.
  • Brian Gionta recorded an assist tonight to extend his point streak to a season-high three games (0+3). The last time Gionta had a three-game point streak was from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, 2014 as a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
  • With a power-play goal tonight, the Sabres have now scored with the man advantage in three straight games for the first time since Jan. 17 to 27.
  • Matt Moulson scored a power-play goal tonight and now has 10 points (2+8) in his last 12 home games. The last time he went two or more home games in a row without recording a point was from Jan. 2 to 15.
