WILSON — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies charged the varsity boys basketball coach for Newfane High School with DWI early Sunday morning.
According to the NCSO report, Eric J. Klumpp, 34, 5702 Jennifer Dr., had been traveling eastbound on Ontario Street just prior to 2 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, and struck a black sedan in an Ontario Street driveway.
Klumpp told patrol that he was headed home from a Newfane bar and that he'd had "a couple" beers. Deputies determined him to be intoxicated and found him to have a .19 blood alcohol content.
He was held on $100 bail and set to appear in Town of Wilson Court on Tuesday.
