ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Dysinger Road man told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies on Monday that someone had used his Social Security number to file their taxes.
The man said he got his taxes done at a tax preparation center. When the paperwork was completed, the tax forms were submitted to the IRS via the Internet. The complainant was then notified by the IRS that a claim was already received with his Social Security number.
The man contacted the IRS and he was told to contact his local police department to have a police report generated. He was unable to determine if somebody fraudulently used his Social Security number or if it is an error with the IRS, who will be investigating this case further.
