ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
+George N Root III wants to see some excitement at Cornerstone CFCU Arena this weekend as fans root on the Lockport Express. So Root's business, Lock 71 Trading, is sponsoring a sign contest for this weekend's games.
Root, who writes two columns for East Niagara Post and produces the weekly YouTube series, "Catching Up with the Lockport Express" said, "Signs are a great visual way to show support for the team. Players love to see signs and clever signs are also great for getting the crowd into the game as well. We need signs at Express games."
Express games at Cornerstone Arena have been mostly void of signs, although one fan brought one to the Jan. 21 game against the Jersey Shore Wildcats that read, "I can't tell with your helmets on. Which one of you is Snooki?"
Lock 71, which buys and sells books, records and collectibles, will award the top sign this weekend with $25.
"Lock 71 just wants to do whatever it takes to help inspire the Express to win in the playoffs," Root said. "We are all about Lockport."
