TAMPA BAY, Fla. — The post trade-deadline Sabres lost their first game to the Tampa Lightning, 3-0.
The Lightning scoring started at 16:37 of the first period with a Steven Stamkos wrist shot past Sabres' goaltender Anders Lindback, who the Sabres picked up Feb. 11 in a deal with the Dallas Stars for Jhonas Enroth. Alex Killorn and Andrej Sustr assisted on the Stamkos goal.
Tampa made it 2-0 at 2:48 of the second when Ryan Callahan scored a power play goal, assisted by Tyler Johnson and Valtteri Filppula. Another power play goal by Tampa at 4:24 made it 3-0. Victor Hedman scored the goal, assisted by Anton Stralman and Ondrej Palat.
Zack Bogosian once again led the Buffalo Sabres in time on ice with 25:12. The defenseman also led the team in shots on goal with seven. The rest of the team combined for another 21 shots. Lindback stopped 32 of 35 shots for the Blue & Gold.
