North Tonawanda Police apprehended a 48-year-old woman accused of identity theft by the City of Lockport Police Department.
Lisa Tessier-Duchesne, 373 Miller St., North Tonawanda, was found at her home by NTPD. Detectives from LPD then responded and placed her under arrest shortly after noon.
She had used the debit card of a Lockport woman to take funds from the woman's account, according to LPD, who said she had used the debit card at an ATM machine in North Tonawanda. Police distributed photos to the media hoping the public would give them her name. It worked.
She is now due in City Court on March 30 to answer to the charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree identity theft and petit larceny.
LPD issued a statement on the issue. It follows in its entirety.

The City of Lockport Police Department would like to thank all media outlets who either broadcasted or printed our request for assistance on Friday, March 20 for the identity theft case we were investigating. Our office received several phone calls that morning identifying the female suspect. With that information, she was quickly located at her residence in North Tonawanda by the North Tonawanda Police Department. Detectives from Lockport Police Department responded and placed her under arrest shortly after 12:00 pm. Without the public's assistance, this case could have remained opened for some time in an attempt to identify and apprehend the suspect. However, she is now under arrest and is facing multiple charges. She is due back in City of Lockport Court on 03/30/15 at 9:00 am.RELATED LINK:
