ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The Niagara History Center will offer a day-long bus trip to Erie, Pa. May 9, including visits to the Erie Maritime Museum and Presque Isle State Park sites.
Leaving from Lockport in the morning, the Grand Tours motorcoach will travel directly to the Maritime Museum where attendees will take a guided tour of both the museum and the brig “Niagara,” a reconstruction of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s relief flagship, on which he won the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813.
A buffet lunch will be had at Molly Brannigan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, then guests will take a trip to the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) at Presque Isle State Park, which features a 75-foot observation tower offering great views of Lake Erie, interactive displays, a giant screen theater, a nature shop and more.
Finally, attendees will take a motorcoach tour of Presque Isle State Park with a step-on guide. The sights will include Commodore Perry’s War of 1812 monument and the 1872 Presque Isle Lighthouse and beach.
Reserve your seat on the Erie, PA, Spring Bus Trip at the History Center’s Museum Complex, 215 Niagara St. in Lockport, or call the Center at 434-7433. The trip often sells out, so they encourage people to book seats as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets are $70 for History Center members, $75 for non-members, which includes the motorcoach ride, all admissions and lunch.
Once again, the History Center bus tour is coordinated by volunteer Shirley Frombgen, who plans and organizes spring and fall trips each year.
