The Lockport Express has some off-ice festivities planned for this weekend in addition to their best-of-three on-ice series against the Wilkes-Barre Miners.

The team will hold pre- and post-game parties at Lock 34 Friday and Saturday — open to the public. They will also present a check from funds raised at their charity game to 2014 Gold Winning U.S. Sled Hockey Player Adam Page during a ceremony prior to Friday's game.

The best-of-three series will have the Express taking on the Miners at 7 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday, and (if necessary) 1 p.m. Sunday. All three games will take place at Cornerstone CFCU Arena. Admission for each game is $5 for adults and free for children under 12.

The Express placed second in the NA3EHL's Western Division. The Miners placed third. The winner of the series will face the winner of the Jersey Shore Wildcats / Roc City Royals series, to be played this weekend in New Jersey.

Jersey Shore lost only one game this season — to the hands of the Express. While Jersey Shore may have led the league in wins, it was the Express that led the league in attendance — in only their first year.

“This has been a tremendous kickoff season for the Express,” said Express Head Coach Frank Vecchio.  “Our boys came together as a team and the hometown fans have given us the boost we needed to win in a very competitive league.”

The pre- and post-game parties at Lock 34 were planned by the team as a means of thanking the fans for their support. They will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday — and immediately following the game; and from 2-6 p.m. Saturday — and immediately following the game. Saturday's afternoon party will also feature music from Darrell Porter at 3 p.m. Drink specials are available to everyone who brings a game ticket to the pre- and post-game parties.

As for the on-ice activities? “This is going to be a very competitive series with Wilkes-Barre," Vecchio said. "They’ve been right on our heels all season long, so I’m expecting a tough matchup. Fans will once again be treated to first-class hockey in a great rink setting.”

Lock 71 Trading is sponsoring a sign contest for the games throughout the weekend.

Lockport could potentially have one more home series this season. If the Express wins against the Miners and Roc City defeats New Jersey, the Royals would travel to Lockport for the second round of the playoffs.
