Eugene “Rip” Russell age 86 passed away on March 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Rip was born in Buffalo, N Y on February 19, 1929 to Alfred and Lorraine Russell.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary Long Russell.  Loving father of four children, three sons Robert (Patty) Russell, William (Cindy) Russell, Richard (Margaret) Russell and a daughter Kathleen (Russell) Burt.

Rip and Mary have 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Rip was predeceased by his sister, Sister Judy Russell SSMN. Survived by his siblings, Joan (Russell) Costello, Kathleen (Russell) Navarre and Reverend Alfred J. Russell.

He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne from 1946 – 48. September 9, 1950, he married the love of his life. Rip worked the majority of his life in Sales over 20 of them as a financial Advisor with IDS later named Ameriprise. Upon his retirement Rip and Mary relocated to Myrtle Beach S.C.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.  He was also a member and past president of the Lockport Exchange Club. Rip loved his Red Sox, Buffalo Bills and Sabres and he especially loved to play and watch golf.  He lived his life like he drove a golf ball, right down the middle.

Friends may call Thursday March 26th 4-8 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at a time to be announced in All Saints R.C. Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport.  Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated.
